Putting Stock Market Pullbacks into Perspective

Putting Stock Market Pullbacks into Perspective

Sam Stovall, Chief Investment Strategist at CFRA, rejoins The Express to put stock market pullbacks in perspective, and why the recent declines are to be expected and relatively minor given historical averages. Plus, there is a growing chorus of Fed presidents who don't think interest rate cuts are warranted at all this year given the hot labor market and persistent inflation. Do investors and savers need to get used to, "higher until whenever", for interest rates, which might explain the heaviest inflows into money market funds that we've witnessed all year? Also, glam-metal legends KISS sells its catalogue and its NIL for $300 million as Name, Image and Likeness moves from the field to the recording industry.

Claudia Sahm on the "Sahm Rule", and the Health of the Economy Today

Claudia Sahm didn't coin the "Sahm Rule", but she has taken on the responsibility that comes with having an economics rule and recession indicator named after her. The macroeconomist who worked at the Federal Reserve and the White House Council of Economic Advisers joins The Express with her forecast for the U.S. economy, including what could go very right, and what could go very wrong. Plus, divergences across the stock market make this recent run to all time highs even more interesting. Happy financial literacy month!

A New Wave of Optimism Reawakens the Bulls

Ryan Detrick, Chief Market Strategist at The Carson Group, climbs back aboard The Express to break down the recent 'Everything Rally', and why history and recent economic data suggest that this trend in motion should stay in motion. Plus, companies are piling on the dividends and the share buybacks to entice investors and jolt their earnings. Investors are scooping up those benefits and are as confident in future returns as they've been in a long time.

Can Cannabis Tourism Save California's Cannabis Industry?

Can Cannabis Tourism Save California's Cannabis Industry?

Cannabis sales and prices are falling apart in the Golden State as overproduction and a glut of dispensaries have far outpaced demand. Can cannabis tourism rescue the industry, or will the stigma of the Schedule 1 controlled substance linger over a state that has been built on family fun destinations like Disneyland and Universal Studios? From the Visit California Outlook Forum in Palm Springs, a panel conversation with Peter Gamez, the President and CEO of Visit Oakland, Wendy Hasse-Roberts, the President and CEO of Travel Santa Ana, and Brian Applegarth of Destination Cannabis. Plus, sector rotation is under way in the stock market as energy stocks take the lead and tech stalls. Is this a sign of lower lows for the market, or just a reset and a wink back at the year 1995?

Digging for Answers on Why Gold is at a Record High

Digging for Answers on Why Gold is at a Record High

Gold prices are at all time highs as the precious metal is having another moment in the sun amid geopolitical uncertainty, sticky high inflation and the highest interest rates in over 20 years. Louise Street of the World Gold Council, a membership organization of some of the biggest gold miners and companies in the world, explains why investors are leaning back into this historical store of wealth. Plus, the biggest stocks in the market are fading as the rest of the market plays catch up. Is this the sign of a healthy bull market, or a late-cycle fade in this historically strong bull market.

Stock market must

Caleb, thank you for making the confusing stock market a little more interesting and understandable. There are so many factors pushing and tucking in so many directions that sometimes it makes it almost impossible to understand. At times it feels like total chaos, but you can bring some sense to the madness. Thank you and your staff for the hard work.

Love your show but…

Hey Caleb, I listen every Monday and have been for years. Today was a disappointing episode in the fact you didn’t honor 9/11 day. Didn’t expect a whole show but a mention would have been nice. You fumbled today…
